Give a book as a gift during the holidaysFor the holidays, and for those who have school-age children who are thinking about what gifts to give them during this Christmas, I recommend that you consider purchasing at least one book for each child. I need a tutor! How many times have we felt the need for someone to help us with an academic task that was very difficult for us? In fact, this need is so prevalent today that many new companies have been launched to meet the demand that has grown considerably in recent years. Not only the need for tutoring for students at the elementary and secondary level but also, the demand for tutors for adults at both undergraduate and graduate levels has increased. There has always been a demand for personal tutors to help those who do not do well in certain subject areas within the regular classroom and who require extra outside assistance to learn difficult academic concepts. As a teacher I talked with many parents who were concerned about the performance of their children. Many times I was asked, Where can I find a good tutor for my son to help him improve academically? At one time, that service was provided mainly by college students who offered their services in an informal way. With the passage of time, for-profit organizations have grown and have become specialized in offering tutoring services for all school levels.
